About me
Dr. Nicholas Murphy is an interventional pulmonologist who specializes in diagnosing and treating lung conditions associated with cancer and other conditions using minimally invasive techniques. He focuses on lung nodules and the timely diagnosis and staging of lung cancer, working with a team of specialists to move patients from an abnormal scan to treatment quickly and safely.
In his research, Murphy investigates ways to improve lung cancer screening and how best to follow and manage lung nodules found during screening or by chance on other scans. His work includes evaluating tools that help patients understand and make decisions about screening.
Murphy earned his medical degree from UCSF, where he also completed a residency in internal medicine and a fellowship in interventional pulmonology. At the University of Washington School of Medicine, he completed a fellowship in pulmonary and critical care medicine and, at the UW School of Public Heath, a master’s degree in epidemiology.
Murphy is a member of the American Thoracic Society, American College of Chest Physicians and American Association for Bronchology and Interventional Pulmonology.
