About me

Julie Frank is a social worker at the UCSF Helen Diller Family Comprehensive Cancer Center who specializes in caring for cancer patients receiving radiation therapy, as well as in addressing their caregivers' needs. She works as part of a multidisciplinary team, providing psychosocial support, advocacy and resources. She has more than 20 years of experience in outpatient care for adults and youths.

Frank has a particular interest in collaborating with patients as a team. She works from a strength-based perspective, empowering patients to make decisions about their care and well-being. Her patients' courage and resilience inspire her every day.

Frank earned her master's degree in social work at the University of Michigan. Prior to joining UCSF's cancer center team, she worked at UCSF Alliance Health Project, providing outpatient mental health care for adults living with HIV. She also worked with homeless youth in San Francisco at Larkin Street Youth Services.
