About me

Dr. Jeffrey W. Ralph is a neurologist who specializes in diseases of the nerve, muscle and neuromuscular transmission, the nerve activity that leads to muscle movement. He is an expert in the category of nerve damage called peripheral neuropathy, with a particular interest in neuropathies that result from immune system activity. In 2004, he became director of the Neuropathy Center at UCSF Medical Center, founded in part with funding from the Neuropathy Association. In addition to treating patients in the clinic, he performs electromyograms – diagnostic tests that record muscles' electrical activity – including such specialized tests as single-fiber electromyograms and multiple-channel recordings for analyzing abnormal muscle tone.

Ralph completed a neurology residency as well as fellowships in neuromuscular medicine and clinical neurophysiology at UCSF. His research has addressed treatments for neuropathy caused by HIV and AIDS.

Dr. Ralph has tremendously impacted my life in a positive way. Being able to have a doctor listen to me about real symptoms I'm having and help me figure out what I have has been a miracle. It took 4.5 years of doctors and referrals to get a diagnosis and he's always made me feel heard in my symptoms
