Gary Gershony, MD

Dr. Gary Gershony is a cardiologist who specializes in minimally invasive procedures to diagnose and treat heart conditions.

Gershony served as director of cardiovascular research, education and technology at John Muir Health Cardiovascular Medical Group, founding its transcatheter aortic valve replacement (TAVR) program. He has also served as director of cardiac catheterization laboratories and interventional cardiology at UC Davis Medical Center.

In research, Gershony's interests include developing new devices for complex coronary and peripheral angioplasty, transcatheter valve therapies, and local drug delivery to prevent restenosis. He has participated in numerous multi-center clinical trials as a principal investigator, authoring over 100 manuscripts and abstracts in the field of cardiology. He is regularly invited to speak at preeminent US and international interventional cardiology meetings and is a fellow of the American College of Cardiology, the Royal College of Physicians, the American Heart Association and the Society for Cardiovascular Angiography and Interventions.

Gershony earned his medical degree at the University of Toronto Faculty of Medicine. There, he completed residencies in internal medicine and cardiology, serving as chief resident. He also completed a fellowship in interventional cardiology at Emory University School of Medicine, where he trained under Dr. Andreas Grüntzig, the inventor of coronary and peripheral angioplasty.
