About me

Dr. Harold R. Collard is a pulmonologist and director of the Interstitial Lung Disease Program at UCSF Medical Center. His primary interest is in managing patients with interstitial lung disease, including how best to diagnose and treat the condition, and how it impacts a patient's quality of life and survival. Collard also directs the Clinical & Translational Science Institute, which seeks to improve patient and community health by facilitating research that evaluates treatments and converts scientific findings into practical use.

Collard earned his medical degree at Duke University. He completed an internship, a residency and a chief residency in internal medicine at UCSF, followed by a fellowship in pulmonary and critical care medicine at the University of Colorado Prior to joining UCSF, he was with National Jewish Health's center on interstitial lung disease.
