About me

Dr. Elyse Foster directs the UCSF Adult Echocardiography Laboratory and Adult Congenital Heart Disease Clinic. She specializes in assessing cardiac function with echocardiography (heart ultrasound), including use of exercise and pharmacologic stress testing to detect obstructions causing insufficient blood supply. She also has a special interest in adult congenital heart conditions and valvular disease.

Foster earned a medical degree at Tufts University School of Medicine. She completed a residency in internal medicine at Boston Medical Center, where she also completed a fellowship in cardiovascular diseases.

Foster is on the executive committee of the International Society for Adult Congenital Heart Disease and American College of Cardiology's women in cardiology committee.
