About me

Cathy Hoang is a physical therapist who uses manual therapy and movement re-education to help patients improve function and move optimally. She cares for patients of all ages, including young athletes.

Hoang treats the body as a whole system, believing that all parts are interconnected. For example, she considers how a foot injury may affect the way a person's arms and upper body move.

After earning her doctor of physical therapy degree from Mount St. Mary's University, Hoang completed a residency in orthopedics as well as fellowships in manual therapy and movement science at Kaiser Permanente Southern California. She also has studied an approach to rehabilitation called Dynamic Neuromuscular Stabilization, developed by the Rehabilitation Prague School. This method focuses on attaining proper motor control to restore function.

Hoang is a volunteer clinical faculty member in the UCSF Department of Physical Therapy and Rehabilitation Science.
