About me

Dr. Amy Tso is a neurologist who cares for people with migraines, trigeminal autonomic cephalalgias (a category of severe one-sided headaches that includes cluster headaches) and rare headache disorders. She has experience in using infusions of dihydroergotamine in the hospital to treat certain headaches.

Tso's research has focused on methods of imaging the brain during migraines as well as on integrating artificial intelligence applications into clinic and hospital management.

Tso earned her medical degree at the David Geffen School of Medicine at the University of California, Los Angeles. While in medical school, she spent two years at the National Institutes of Health researching how to use different imaging methods to visualize strokes. She completed a residency in neurology and a fellowship in headache medicine at UCSF.

In her free time, Tso enjoys activities in nature, including multiday alpine hikes, scuba diving, and delighting in the local beauty of the headlands and redwoods.

Provider speaks very fast. It's hard to think of questions because I'm concentrating so hard on keeping up with what she Is saying. But I do think she would take time to answer any questions I would ask. I did appreciate her concern that I was tolerating more pain than necessary and encouraged me to try some of the least invasive treatment options.

Excellent letter written to referring neurologist and my primary care physician and me summarizing the visit and her recommendations. She also referred me to a UCSF ENT group for further evaluation but that provider has not called me for an appointment and it is not specified in My CHart how I am supposed to follow up to get that appointment.

Dr Tso is one of the best physicians, I've ever had the pleasure of knowing and being treated by. She's so brilliant and also has great way of making you feel like you're included and a part of the decision making. She's helped me so much in my migraine cure and journey. I wish I'd met and been treated by her 40 years ago. She's changed my quality of life. She's also a great and caring funny, human.

Dr. Tso is great, she does tend to talk very quickly which can make it hard to track what she's saying, especially when it's new information. Kind of like drinking from a firehose! BUT I appreciate that she will always repeat herself or re-explain a concept when I ask her to.
